Thank you for your interest in the chronicles. By now, you're
probably wondering why I would contact you and other writers I
have known, after so many years have passed. Well, I thought it
would be a great idea to do an anthology. It's an idea that I
have been sleeping on for about 20 years (no pun intended).
It's called "The Rip Van Wrinkle Chronicles: A Revolutionary
Reawakening." Yes, Rip Van "Wrinkle" is not a typo!
A "wrinkle," according to Webster's dictionary, is also
"a novel idea, an ingenious trick, or device; a clever innovation."
Rip Van Winkle wasn't just a story about a henpecked husband
who wanted to get away from his nagging wife so he slept in the
woods for 20 years. When Rip Van Winkle fell asleep the Revolutionary
war had just started. And when he woke up he was surprised to
find out the war was over and the states had won their independence
from England and King George III. A good analogy for what is happening
today. Rip Van Winkles on a larger scale are the sheeple who are
in a somnambulistic trance from their "nagging," over-protective
and over-reaching government. You can help wake them up! However,
if you are just content to be like a docile sheep, then write
something about sleeping and dreaming!
We are currently accepting submissions for poems, essays, and
'short short' stories that would fit this concept. New or previously
unpublished work is preferred. Published writers will receive
a free copy of the anthology as payment. I plan to have the anthology
out by October. (see working cover above) The deadline for submissions
is August 31, 2014.
I will be glad to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you, and looking forward to your contribution to our anthology!
